Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my pet need physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy can be used for a number of conditions.

  • It is particularly useful following orthopaedic surgery (surgery on a pet's limbs or back) to help them regain maximum strength and motion.

At Maven Vets we routinely use physiotherapy in the days following a pet's orthopaedic surgery to reduce swelling and begin safe movement to prevent unnecessary stiffness.

  • Physiotherapy can also be a useful technique for animal's who have arthritis, in combination with other treatments, as it aids in building the muscles around the affected joint.

Who will do my pet's physiotherapy?

At Maven Vets our Nurses are trained in physiotherapy and will perform treatments on patients in hospital when required.

In addition, we have a visiting physiotherapy specialist, Joanne Boddy, who can arrange to see your pet as an outpatient for ongoing support or if they require a specific course of physiotherapy.

Where will my pet have physiotherapy?

If you pet is in hospital they will be given physiotherapy during their stay if required.

As an outpatient we can arrange for your pet to have physiotherapy with Joanne Boddy :

  • At our North Cheam Clinic: a dedicated room will be made available for this treatment
  • In the comfort of your own home: Jo will discuss if this is appropriate and, if so, will arrange a time to suit you.
