Mike is Zimbabwean born but educated in South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria-Onderstepoort in 1995. He workied in several small animal and mixed practices in the UK since then and became a partner in Maven Veterinary Care (previously Frean and Smyth Vets) in 2003. Mike stepped down as partner (to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life!) in 2019, and now works part-time at the practice.

Mike has a keen interest in veterinary dentistry and attends regular specialised training in this area which means he can perform advanced dental surgeries as needed for our pets. Outside of work he likes to spend as much time as possible with his 2 young sons. He also has a keen interest in cycling and can often be found training for challenging international cycling races!

Mike’s family belong to a rescue cat called Chakari.
