As a nation of dog lovers, it’s important that we find the breed that’s right for our lifestyle. Unfortunately, new research from Sainsbury’s Bank has found over half of pet owners (51%) don’t research their breed, which can lead some owners to feel pet regret. Reasons owners regret choosing their breed include they don’t like their personality, or they end up being allergic to the breed.

Roxy is an 18 week old French Bulldog who was brought into us last month for acute onset vomiting. Poor Roxy was just 14 weeks old and had been vomiting all day and continued to be sick during her consultation. Although Roxy remained quite bright the vet could feel a thickening in her intestines which warranted further investigations.

At the beginning of 2019, Molly a 10 ½ year old Greyhound had already accumulated a number of medical conditions; but nothing could have prepared her or her family for the rest of the year to come. Molly has previously suffered from pancreatitis which involves ongoing dietary management, as well as an under-active thyroid gland that also involves daily medication. Not unlike other elderly greyhounds, she has a bit of arthritis too.

Poor Snoopy, a Cross Breed Dog, has been through the wars and already has had 3 operations before turning one year old!

Sweet little Shona has had quite a year at the practice! She is a 10 ½ year old Jack Russell Terrier and she first came to us in April this year with intermittent vomiting. With initial treatment she got better within a few days, however it kept on recurring despite medical treatment.  Shona was still her bright and happy self, but the problem just kept coming back! Her blood tests were all normal, so she had an abdominal ultrasound scan with our visiting specialist to try and get to the bottom of the issue.
