Voting is now open to crown Maven Vets' Pet of the Year 2017!

Kate was presented to us because she was not eating for 2 days and she was not passing faeces. She was also quiet in herself.

The team at Maven Veterinary Care in North Cheam are thrilled to have been awarded Hospital Status in a recent inspection by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as part of the Practice Standards Scheme.

Beating the odds to overcome a mystery illness

Candie was a beautiful girl who enjoyed the finer things in life, like sitting on chairs! She would make herself at home on her visits to us by jumping straight into the chair in the consult room. You would almost think she owned the place.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our Open Day on Sunday! We hope you all had as much fun as we did. It was fabulous to see so many familiar faces and to meet new faces too - you were all very welcome. Here are a few photos from the day. Special thanks to Kirsty our face painter from Bells and Whistles who was in constant demand throughout the day and to Chloe from Zoolab with her many exotic creatures who entertained all our guests! Our competitions on the day raised £164 for charity which was split between Kittie's Cat and Kitten Rescue and Wildlife Aid, both of whom joined us on the day. All in all, a great success!

Luna is a two-year-old bunny who has been to see us more times than he can cares to think about! Luna has always suffered from impactions. This is a common problem in rabbits and occurs when the guts stop moving food along which causes a large amount of food (ingesta) to build up within the stomach or intestines, resulting in a blockage. When this happens rabbits often stop passing faeces and stop eating which can then make them very weak. Sometimes if fluid and gas build up in front of the blockage, as rabbits cannot vomit, the stomach can become very bloated and can in severe cases rupture.
